I've been away for awhile...

...but I'm on my way back.

I recently saw the movie and re read the book "For Colored Girls who have considered Suicide when the Rainbow is Enuf" (by Ntozake Shange).

The quote that has resonated with me so deeply is this..

"Sing her a song of life...she's been dead so long she doesn't know the sound of her own voice....her infinite beauty...let her be born and handled warmly...."

It is easy to get to a place in our lives where we become dead to ourselves. Our opinions, our wants, our desires are muffled, pushed down, shoved so far away so that we can't even hear our own instincts, our heart, or our truth anymore.

No longer.

Let your own voice be born and handled warmly! Handle yourself warmly.

This is going to be an exciting year friends.

Something new...

The road

I learned a lot of things today.

I started this morning off singing songs with one of the most talented, versatile performers I know.

I learned that their is always MORE to learn...

I continued on to be swept away by some of the most beautiful, fighting, colorful young people I have ever met.

I learned negative circumstances do not have to directly affect ones countenance and mood.

And I ended the night listening to an angel sing praises with her perfect instrument.
I learned that your inner beauty can and should translate into your talents and gifts.

When the road seems hard....just stay steady on the course. I promise their is something for you on the path.

I learned that today 3 times over today.

I had one of the most amazing inspiring experiences today.

I watched a friend be in love...I mean I saw it so clearly that it moved my heart...while listening to one of the best singer/songwriters of our time play beautiful, truth inspired music calmly....with the steadiest hand I have ever seen.


I am gonna grab it...all of it and hold onto it.

Everything I want in my life was on that stage today.

Thank you God.

P.S. You can't see it in this picture, but on my walk home I took the long route to walk on the promenade and the tall building in the distance had the lights in the building lit in a certain way....and it looked like a HEART!!
